About Clarann Weinert
CLARANN WEINERT, SC, PhD, RN, FAAN.
Clarann is a Professor at the Montana State University College of Nursing and a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati. For over 25 years she has had a funded program of research on the management of chronic illness, which currently includes: use of computers as a means for providing support and health information to isolated rural woman; use of complementary therapy by rural residents in Montana and North Dakota; impact of spirituality on chronic illness; family strategies for caring for Native American elders; and spirituality and suicide. She is the Director for the Virtual Resource Center for the Montana Geriatric Education.
Dr. Weinert is widely published in social support, rural health/theory, and chronic illness management. In 2002 she was the Business and Professional Women's Montana Woman of the Year. She has been inducted into the American Academy of Nursing and of the Western Academy of Nurses. Currently, Dr. Weinert serves on the Advisory Council for the NIH/National Institute for Nursing Research, the Steering Committee for the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science; the External Advisory Committee for the University of Wyoming INBRE, the Sister of Charity Seton Enablement Fund Committee, the Office of Rural Health/Area Health Education Council Advisory Committee, and the Executive Council of the MSU College of Nursing.
Along with her professional commitments she has a strong interest in issues related to the health of the planet and the new cosmology. She was part of a small group of Sisters of Charity who recently formulated the future direction of the congregation with the goal of articulating our spirituality of creation and identifying our ethical behaviors in the care of earth through an awakening a new reverence for life, resolving to achieve sustainability, quickening the struggle for justice and peace and joyfully celebrating life |
